What is an Impacted Tooth?
An impacted tooth is a tooth that remains stuck in the jawbone or gum tissue and cannot fully emerge into the oral cavity. The most commonly impacted teeth are wisdom teeth, also known as third molars.
With over 15 years of experience and thousands of successful operations, we perform impacted tooth extractions in a comfortable and safe manner. The vast majority of our patients say the procedure was much more comfortable than they expected.
Wisdom teeth typically try to emerge between ages 17-25. However, they can remain impacted or partially impacted when there isn't enough space in the jaw or when they're positioned at an incorrect angle.
Lack of Space
When there isn't enough room in the jaw, wisdom teeth cannot emerge properly and may put pressure on adjacent teeth.
Partially Erupted Teeth
Food accumulates around teeth that have only partially emerged pieces, and they're difficult to clean. This can lead to gum inflammation.
Incorrect Angulation
Wisdom teeth positioned horizontally or at an angle can put pressure on the roots of neighboring teeth.
Recurring Discomfort
If you frequently experience swelling, sensitivity, or discomfort in the same area, evaluation is important.
Personalized Evaluation
During your examination, we'll review your wisdom teeth together using X-ray images and decide whether intervention is necessary. Not every impacted tooth needs to be extracted; we'll make the right decision together.
How Does the Operation Process Work?
Examination & Planning
During your first appointment, an X-ray is taken, and the tooth's position is evaluated. You're given detailed information about the operation.
Operation Day
After local anesthesia, the procedure begins. Depending on the position, it takes 20-45 minutes. The gum is opened, bone shaping is done if needed, and the tooth is removed.
Healing Process
We provide you with detailed care instructions. There may be mild swelling in the first few days, easily managed with prescribed medications.
Follow-up Appointment
Sutures are typically removed after 7-10 days. We follow your healing process to ensure everything is on track.

Is This Treatment Right for Me?
We've compiled the questions our patients ask most frequently:
My wisdom teeth don't hurt. Should they still be extracted?
Not every wisdom tooth needs to be extracted. However, evaluating the position and risks with an X-ray is important.
My wisdom tooth has partially emerged. What should I do?
Partially erupted teeth create areas that are difficult to clean. The risk of gum inflammation is higher. We recommend an evaluation.
Is the extraction procedure comfortable?
Yes. The procedure is performed entirely comfortably with local anesthesia. Most patients say it was more comfortable than expected.
I have all four wisdom teeth. Should I have them all extracted at once?
It depends on your situation. Extracting all four in a single session is possible, as is extracting them in pairs.
My impacted tooth isn't a wisdom tooth. Can it still be extracted?
Yes. Canine teeth, premolars, or other teeth can also remain impacted. We apply the same surgical approach.
I'm older. Is it too late?
There's no age limit for impacted tooth extraction. However, healing is generally faster at younger ages.
I have a chronic condition. Can I have the operation?
If conditions like diabetes are under control, the operation can be safely performed. We'll coordinate with your doctor.
What to Expect After the Operation?
First 24 Hours: Mild bleeding is normal. Cold compresses reduce swelling. First Few Days: Mild swelling possible, medication provides comfort. First Week: Sensitivity decreases, sutures removed. Complete Healing: 1-2 weeks for tissue, 3-4 months for bone.

It varies between 20-45 minutes depending on the position and degree of impaction.
Swelling typically peaks on day 2-3 and largely subsides within 5-7 days.
Sutures are typically removed after 7-10 days. The follow-up appointment is important to track healing.
Soft, lukewarm foods are recommended: soups, yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc. Avoid hard and hot foods.
It's recommended not to smoke for at least 48-72 hours after the operation. Smoking can slow healing.
